Room.
The day job ships retrieval pipelines. The side quest collects records and reads on the floor. Pull a sleeve from the crate and the deck does the rest — needle, speed switch, meters, all of it live. And because the engineer never fully leaves the room, the Mozart on side A is synthesized from raw PCM by a Node script — every pressing prints its recipe. His own rotation is on side B.

01 · THE SOUND
Side A isn’t a recording of anything. A Node script writes raw 16-bit PCM — sine pads, plucked decays, a 58Hz heartbeat, vinyl crackle from a seeded random generator — straight into WAV headers. Each loop’s frequencies are snapped so a whole number of cycles fits exactly 12 seconds, which is what makes the loop seamless. Side B is his own crate — real pressings, self-hosted, dropped onto their best 30 seconds.
02 · THE DECK
The turntable is one hand-drawn SVG — no 3D library, no images. The tonearm geometry is computed (pivot at 780,180; arm 297px; the stylus lands mid-groove). The speed switch really changes playback rate: 45 plays the same maths 36% faster and a third higher. The VU needles aren’t an animation loop — they read amplitude from a live Web Audio AnalyserNode.
03 · THE POINT
A portfolio says what you can do. A side room shows what you do when nobody asked. This page is the same engineering as the rest of the site — zero libraries, zero external requests, everything measured — wearing its evening clothes.
